Lets Talk About Lube

I've have a couple of toy reviews coming up, prior to doing that I thought that it might be better to discuss lubes. Having proper lubrication before any sexual activity is so important. Without proper lubrication it can cause a number of issues such as tearing, friction or general discomfort. Not to mention occasional bleeding.

Although there are many different types of lube it's important to use the right kind of lube especially when toys are involved. The three main types of lube are Water Based, Silicone Based, and Oil Based.

Water Based Lube is very effective for all activities. Its also very compatible with all sex toy materials. Water Based lubes work really well with condoms as well. Which lets face it because when it comes to sex you should always practice safe sex. Water Based is also very easy to clean, which makes it very beneficial. Personally it's my go to lube, even if you do end up using a bit more than you would the other ones.

Silicone Based Lube is hypoallergenic and great for sensitive skin. It also lasts a bit longer than the Water Based Lube. Unfortunately though Silicone Based isn't compatible with silicone toys. If you use it with them the surface of your sex toy will deteriorate at over time. It will destroy the look of your beautiful toys. You also wont be able to clean them as well so they wont be as sanitary as they need to be. However non silicone toys and other actives work very well with Silicone Based Lube.

Oil Based Lube is probably the longest lasting lube of the three. One application should do it. Unfortunately Oil Based Lube has been linked to more infections than the other types. Oil Based Lube is also more likely to stain your clothes, bed sheets or any other cloth it might coming in contact with. It can also be a pain in the ass to clean and not in a good way! Personally I find it best to just stay away from Oil Based Lube. Of course there are a lot of hybrid lubes out there as well as natural lubes. I like to stick to Water Based or Silicon Based Lubes they tend to be the most practical. I also suggesting staying way from novelty lubes they can mess up your vagina balance and cause unnecessary issues.

The amount of lube that you use depends on the activity. Vaginal sex will use less lube than anal sex will. You will always want to use more lube with anal sex because the anal doesn't lube itself. Not to mention its a smaller space so there would be more friction. You can either apply the lube to the toy or directly to your skin. I find it's easier to just apply it to the toy and reapply if needed. Remember there is nothing to be ashamed of when using lube. Use as much as you need, everyone is different so some woman will need more than others.

  1. But its terrible for clean up! LOL I stick to water based I don't have to worry about it messing up silicone toys
